I’m Oscar, the owner of Oscar’s Landscaping.

 

I come from a Mexican family, raised by hardworking parents — my father, a welder, and my mother, a seamstress. From them, I learned strong values early on: work ethic, discipline, and the importance of doing the right thing for others. Those principles have stayed with me throughout my entire journey.

 

From a young age, I was already involved in construction, working alongside my father in welding and structural work. I spent years learning how things are built — from metal structures to large-scale construction — developing not only technical skills, but also a deep respect for the process and the responsibility behind every job.

 

Like many young people, I made mistakes along the way. But one thing never changed — I never stopped working, and I never stopped moving forward.

 

On May 8, 2012, I arrived in Canada with a work permit and started working for a landscaping company called Sierra Alta. That experience marked the beginning of my journey in this country. I was immediately impacted by Canada — its landscapes, its seasons, and the way each time of year completely transforms the environment.

 

Over the next few years, I immersed myself in the industry and in the culture. Along the way, I met people who played a key role in my development, teaching me how to operate machinery and master both rough grading and final grading — skills that would later become fundamental in my career.

 

In 2014, I joined Park Landscaping, a company that truly meant a lot to me and played a major role in my growth. It was more than just a job — it was an incredible opportunity to develop, to be challenged, and to grow both personally and professionally. I genuinely enjoyed being part of that team and everything it represented.

 

I grew within the company from laborer to lead hand, then foreman, supervisor, and eventually Residential Operations Manager. During my time there, I had the opportunity to work across a wide range of projects — from home builders and residential landscaping to turf installation, ponds, and even commercial support.

 

More importantly, that experience gave me strong relationships, both within the industry and across cultures. It was a multicultural environment where I built meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds, many of whom remain important in my life today.

 

The only reason I decided to move on was because of a major opportunity — the same people who had mentored me early in my journey invited me to become a business partner and part-owner of K&H. My very very good friends. 

 

That’s where my journey as an owner truly began.

 

At K&H, I took full responsibility for the landscaping division. While I had already gained significant operational and office experience, this step pushed me further — into leadership, decision-making, and full accountability. I became involved in every aspect of the business: estimating, scheduling, operations, profitability, client relationships, and marketing.

 

With that came challenges — but also growth.

 

And through that growth, something became very clear: this was no longer just work.

 

It became a passion.

 

That passion is what led me to build Oscar’s Landscaping.

 

Today, my focus is on delivering high-end outdoor spaces where every detail matters. From selecting the right materials and plants, to guiding clients through colors, textures, and design decisions — I believe in creating spaces that reflect their lifestyle and what they truly enjoy.

 

This is about more than landscaping. It’s about understanding how people live, what they value, and building something that connects with them on a deeper level.

 

I take pride in being involved in every step, ensuring quality, intention, and a result that clients feel proud of.

 

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just what I do —

it’s what I genuinely care about.
